ConductSince 1st December 2008 the ‘Police Performance/Attendance and Conduct Regulations 2008’ have been in force replacing the 2004 Misconduct regulations. The new regulations represent a move away from the old style of blame and punishment and into a speedy process of learning and improvement. They were written by a serving police officer in consultation with all the involved organisations including your Police Federation. Most complaints will be assessed on Area and handed to supervisors to deal with appropriately. It is fully recognised that police officers sometimes make mistakes or the wrong decisions in good faith. The new regulations give managers back the power to actually manage and not pass everything up the line. Should you be served with a Regulation 15 notice it is recommended that you contact a Federation friend or the Federation office before making any response. Your right to contact the Federation should be well understood by management and is detailed in the Regulation 15 notice served on you at the onset of an investigation. This is not a time to be shy - your career may be at risk! You should seek advice at the earliest stages of conduct, performance or attendance issues. In this way experienced trained representatives will best be able to explain the processes, protect your rights and in appropriate cases help conduct a proper defence. Where necessary the Federation will seek funding for legal advice or representation on your behalf. The following members of Hertfordshire Police Federation are trained to give Misconduct Advice: Steve HUTCHINGS (Misconduct Leader Full-time Ext 8791)Dave JACKSON (Full-time covering East and HQ Ext 7316)Paul COXALL (Full-time covering Central and West Ext 6224)Mark BATES (HQ)Danny HOWE (East)Alan LUCAS (West)Sarah ROBERTS (West)Gary SHORE (East)Phil SNOOK (Central)Karen STEPHENS (East)Vince TURNER (West)
